Welcome Ushpizot - Seven Women of the Sukkah
Welcome Ushpizot - Seven Women of the Sukkah
Seven women. Seven stories. Seven designs.
Welcome the Ushpizot into your sukkah with a contemporary celebration of seven extraordinary women of Jewish tradition.
Alongside the traditional Ushpizin, many Jewish families have embraced the practice of welcoming seven great women into the sukkah during Sukkot.
We created Welcome Ushpizot to give that tradition a place on the walls of the modern sukkah.
The set includes Sarah, Miriam, Devorah, Hannah, Avigayil, Huldah, and Esther, with each woman represented by her own dimensional geometric design inspired by her story and legacy.
Seven women. Seven designs.
Sarah: Overlapping arches inspired by Sarah's tent, representing the space and hospitality she created for others.
Miriam: Flowing waves reflecting Miriam's connection to water and song, and the well associated with her in Jewish tradition.
Devorah: A honeycomb pattern inspired by Devorah's name, creating a strong geometric structure from one of nature's most efficient forms.
Hannah: - A flowing sine-like relief inspired by the depth, movement, and rhythm of Hannah's prayer.
Avigayil: A floral-inspired geometric pattern reflecting Avigayil's beauty, wisdom, and discernment.
Huldah: Intersecting X-shaped grooves create a pattern that reveals itself through layers, depth, and hidden geometry, reflecting Huldah's role as a prophetess whose words helped illuminate Jewish tradition.
Esther: A hidden star emerges within the geometry, reflecting the hidden nature of Esther's story and the unseen hand behind its unfolding.
Together, the seven panels create a cohesive installation while giving each figure her own visual identity.
Designed as Jewish art, not just sukkah décor.
Every panel was designed specifically for the woman it represents. The geometric patterns aren't simply decorative backgrounds — each one is an artistic interpretation of an element of her story.
The dimensional relief creates depth and movement across the panels, while the contrasting finishes highlight the geometry from different angles.
The set is finished in plum matte with a rose-gold silk face, creating a warm, contemporary palette that stands beautifully on its own or alongside the traditional elements of your sukkah.
The seven panels hang together from a single waxed cotton cord and can be easily taken down and stored to bring out again year after year.
